There are so many beautiful and wondrous places to visit in the local area or just a short drive away. Take off on your own, rent a motor bike or hire a driver and car. Take the breath taking coastal route, passing high above beaches studded with Jukung fishing boats, on to Amalapura, stopping at the traditional natural cotton and dye textiles, basket makers, Ujung Kings Palace, the vibrant busy market, the Kings home where the family still live today. On route home Tirta Ganga's Water Palace. So many stunning coastal and paddle views, breath taking.
A day trip to White Sands, a beautiful drive to a white sand beach with a selection of warnings selling Fresh fish dishes. Pop into Charlies chocolate factory in Jasri. You can also surf in this area.
Candi Dasa is an hour away if you feel the need to shop a little, and then visit Tanganan one of the two original Bali Aga villages on the Island, the families traditions and rules are very different to the rest of the Balinese Hindu population.
Take a trip to Lempuyang Temple, one of Bali's oldest and most highly regarded temples on a par with Besakih Bali's mother Temple. Be prepared for a steep drive and walk to the first Dragon Temple, and a further steep climb passing the second, third and finally the fourth temple with incredible views. Lempuyang is not a well know tourist destination. Please wear appropriate clothing to enter the temples.
